This photomicrograph revealed some of the ultrastructural details displayed by a microfilarial-staged nematode, Brugia malayi, one of the organisms responsible for the disease known as lymphatic filariasis. A number of leukocytes, or white blood cells (WBCs) were also visible surrounding the nematode. See PHIL 26396, for another view of this organism.
