Heterochiasmy and the establishment of gsdf as a novel sex determining gene in Atlantic halibut.
Atlantic halibut larvae during metamorphosis, the transformation from symmetrical larvae to asymmetrical juveniles. Halibut display a pronounced sex dimorphism in growth and sexual maturation, where females mature at an older age and larger size than males. See Edvardsen et al.
