Reticulovesicular network of modified endoplamic reticulum (ER) associated with severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS)-coronavirus replication. Electron tomography was used to generate a three-dimensional reconstruction of the reticulovesicular network of modified ER induced in Vero E6 cells upon infection with SARS-coronavirus. SARS-coronavirus replication and transcription are associated with this membrane network, which is composed of a large number of conspicuous double membrane vesicles (outer membrane, gold; inner membrane, silver) of which the outer membranes are continuous with convoluted membranes (bronze) and ER cisternae.
